LR Presidency: François-Xavier Bellamy reiterates his support for Bruno Retailleau who "does not allow himself to be dictated to in his words or actions"
MEP François-Xavier Bellamy, a guest on BFM Politique this Sunday, May 11, supports Bruno Retailleau for the LR presidency because of his openness, "even if it may come as a shock."

François-Xavier Bellamy, MEP for the European People's Party and vice-president of the Republicans, reiterated his support on Sunday, May 11, on BFM Politique for Bruno Retailleau for the LR presidency, whose openness of tone he appreciates.

"All French people can see that Bruno Retailleau will not allow his words or actions to be dictated by any kind of dilution of Macronism, whatever it may be," the MEP assures.

Laurent Wauquiez, LR MP for Haute-Loire, attacked his LR presidential opponent , Bruno Retailleau, who is also Interior Minister, in an interview with Le Parisien on Sunday. "Having a president of the Republicans who is also a member of a Macronist government obviously leads to the dilution of Macronism and the end of the right," he said.

Taking the example of the urban rodeo that took place on Saturday in Évian-les-Bains , in Haute-Savoie, during which a firefighter was seriously injured, François-Xavier Bellamy validates the comments of Bruno Retailleau who denounced the act of "barbarians".

"Did Bruno Retailleau moderate his words? Did he hide something he thought? No," the MEP believes. "He goes very far, he talks about this risk of barbarism that runs through society, even if it must be shocking," asserts François-Xavier Bellamy.

"I believe that this is what makes him resonate with public opinion, that Bruno Retailleau doesn't act as if everything is normal," believes François-Xavier Bellamy.

"He doesn't pretend, he doesn't let things slide. He doesn't deny reality, and it's this independence that has made the French recognize his value in this government," he continues.

"On May 18, we will all be united behind whoever leads us," promises François-Xavier Bellamy, assuring that there is no "irreconcilable right or insurmountable fracture" within LR.

The vote for the presidency of the Les Républicains party will be held electronically on May 17 and 18 and will be reserved for party members.

In addition to François-Xavier Bellamy, Bruno Retailleau has the support of Senate President Gérard Larcher , Cannes Mayor David Lisnard, Hauts-de-France President Xavier Bertrand and former party boss Jean-François Copé.
